April 29, 2010 Race Report: Rotax Pan American Challenge - MSR Houston Author: www.RotaxPanAm.com Source: www.eKartingNews.com April 23-25 marked the first round of the 2010 Rotax Pan American Challenge held at the amazing Motor Sports Ranch Houston (MSR Houston). The facility is home to a 2.25-mile road race course, skid pad, trackside condos, and a top notch 0.8-mile kart track. The kart facility is home to KartNation kart shop and Stuart Robinson Racing (SRR) race team. The even was host to several 2009 Rotax Grand Finals Team USA Drivers (Alec Udell, Troy Castaneda, Victor Pedrosa, Ethan Ringel, Mike Daniel, and Stepanova Nekeel) and many former Grand Finals Competitors. The track at MSR Houston was a challenging course for racing. The track is narrow in several sections and offers only a few passing zones. This made for some very exciting racing with drivers drafting down the straights to make the critical passes. For a full track analysis by veteran Rotax Champion Wes Phillips watch the video below: MASTERS CLASS Time for the true veterans of the sport in the Masters class. The race marked the return of Robby Mott, a man who dominated both Saturday and Sunday besting the field by 7-seconds both days. Even 2009 Team USA driver Mike Daniel could not keep up with Mott, taking second both days. David Pergande proved to be consistent, finishing a strong third in both finals. Round 2 of the Rotax Pan American Challenge is set to take place June 11-13 at New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, IN.
